Shepaug’s College and Career Center works closely with the School Counseling Department to provide resources that help students explore career interests and/or prepare for educational opportunities.

Diane Lash Decker is the College and Career Center Coordinator at Shepaug Valley School, where she is dedicated to helping students navigate their post-high school journeys. With a strong background in education, writing, and property management, Diane works passionately to guide students toward the best colleges, universities, and career opportunities. Outside of her professional work, Diane enjoys yoga, hiking, gardening, and traveling, reflecting her commitment to a balanced, enriching life.

Providing resources for students to explore various career options, understand their interests and strengths, and make informed decisions about their future career paths.
Each year, approximately 75 colleges hold information sessions at SVS for interested students. Seniors are encouraged to come and hear firsthand the latest news from individual colleges in which they may be interested. All of the visits are in the College and Career Center (room B). A hall pass is needed to attend these sessions. The visit schedule may also be viewed through Naviance.
Facilitating workshops, training sessions to help students develop essential skills such as communication, critical thinking, problem solving, teamwork, and professionalism to prepare them for success in higher education and the workforce.
